8820 WILLIAMSBURG PHILADELPHIA ARM CHAIR
BY BAKER FURNITURE COMPANY

This Rococo style chair is a beautiful reproduction of the Philadelphia original, circa 1765, commissioned by Governor John Penn of Pennsylvania. With all the hallmarks of the original which was expertly crafted by Thomas Affleck, a renowned 18th Century furniture maker from Philadelphia, this chair features serpentine arms with deeply carved knuckles and exceptional "bead and reel" moulding along the seat. This chair rests on raised plinth Marlborough legs with exuberantly carved blind fretwork decorated with pendant bellflowers. Not only beautiful, this chair's size offers comfort with its crisp fit and firmness.

U583 "WHITE HOUSE" CHAIR BY KITTINGER

This superlative reproduction of an English Rococo library chair, circa 1770, is in the Oval Office of the White House. This chair offers both comfort and beauty. It features gracefully carved drop arms, a commodious seat, and acanthus carved cabriole legs terminating in ball and claw feet. This fine chair will enhance the most demanding of room settings.
HISTORY: It should be noted that this chair is derived from the English Gainsborough chair which was named for the chair often used by renowned artist, Thomas Gainsborough, in his paintings.

This chair with its superlative design and creature comfort is considered the finest Executive Chair ever made by Kittinger. A duplicate of this chair was used in the White House Oval Office by both Presidents Reagan and George Bush, the Senior. Finely upholstered in black leather with a diamond tufted back and antique nailhead trim, this chair is in original condition. A perfect match for an outstanding executive desk, this chair has both height adjustment and swivel base.

The Neoclassical style of this chair evolved from the Martha Washing Lolling Chair and reflects the features desired in post-Revolutionary America. A faithful reproduction of the, circa 1800, New England Hepplewhite original, this chair has wonderful clean lines and refined styling as well as the added comfort of its padded and rolled arms. From the 1973 Williamsburg Federal Collection, this chair is upholstered in its original rich brown leather dating to the premier of the Collection.
