BESPOKE MT. CUBA ROCOCO SOFA
BY AMERICANA FURNITURE AND INTERIORS

This exceedingly fine reproduction Rococo sofa is entirely hand-made and faithfully captures the details of the original Philadelphia antique dating to 1780. The original antique sofa was in the former collection of Mr. and Mrs. Lamont DuPont Copeland in their Neo-Georgian residence known as Mt. Cuba, now open to the public as a historical home and garden just outside of Wilmington, Delaware. The furniture at Mt. Cuba was considered one of the finest collections of American antiques and achieved record prices when the home's contents were sold at auction. This particular sofa is considered one of the finest in the Philadelphia Rococo style featuring a pronounced high camel back flanked by dramatic twin peaks, extreme rakes to the arms, serpentine front seat rail and resting on robust Marlborough legs with raised molded plinths. This sofa is the first in a series of important museum quality pieces of American furniture to be offered by Americana Furniture and Interiors. Completely hand made, this sofa with its exceptional upholstery work can be ordered either in a tight seat or cushion seat, in either leather or fabric. Shown here is the tight leather seat accentuated with nailhead trim. This expertly made sofa can also be made with a cushion seat and in custom sizes to accommodate one's particular requirements.
